The Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park will officially open on Saturday, May 12, and the Riverfront Rock! celebration is sure to be one to remember, and it’s FREE!
The new Riverfront Park, which is located at 1001 North Boulevard, is twenty-five acres of amenities including a playground, splash pad, a large event space, dog park, picnic area, sports courts and a rowing center.
The fun will begin on Saturday, May 12 with Fitness Classes, with Stand-Up Paddleboarding from 9:00am-12:00pm and Zumba at 10:00am.
Then at 12:00pm, Mayor Bob Buckhorn will officially Kick-Off The Riverfront Rock! on the Main Stage at the Great Lawn.
There will be a Family Fun Stage and Arts and Crafts, Balloons, Bounce Houses and Face Painting. The event will also have many opportunities for recreational activities such as a Basketball Clinic, Tennis Clinic, Drills and Skills Tests from the Tampa Bay Rays, Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tampa Bay Rowdies.
Back on the Main Stage there will be live music throughout the day and then the 5th Annual Mayor’s Mac & Cheese Throwdown. This competition, is mainly for bragging rights among local restaurants and eateries, on who has THE best Mac & Cheese in Tampa.
After the Mac & Cheese Throwdown, Third Eye Blind will take the stage for a FREE concert. Be sure to arrive early before the concert begins, because Third Eye Blind us sure to draw a large crowd. The night will then be capped off with a one-of-a-kind fireworks’ display at 9:30pm.
Sunday, May 13, 2018 activities are similar to the day before with Fitness Classes beginning at 9:00am with Yoga and then Boot camp at 10:00am. Local Bands, The U.S. Navy Band and the Florida Orchestra will all perform throughout Sunday afternoon. There will also be a fireworks’ display at 9:30pm on Sunday too!
There will be Food Trucks at the Riverfront Rock! as well as Titos Vodka and Pepin, for assorted beverage options.

- The closest parking option will be the Royal Regional or Interstate Parking Lots, which allows for a short walk over the Laurel Street Bridge.
