The Best Summer Camps In Tampa Bay

With Summer Break just about a week away, if you haven’t found a Summer Camp for your children to attend yet than now is the time to do so! There are many different Summer Day Camps right here in the Tampa Bay area that kids will love and offer activities for all different personalities and price ranges! Check out the list below and see which one if the best for your family this summer!

Busch Gardens

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has been offering educational Summer Caps for over 20 years! The Summer Camps at Busch Gardens are great for Kindergarteners up to Middle School. There are several different types of camps available for children depending on their age, how long you wish for them to attend as well as their interests. For the youngest campers, in the Kindergarten to Second Grade age group there is the Troopers’ Mini Camp, which is a 3-Day Mini Camp for $180.00 per child. Also in that same age group for $270.00 per child, there is the Animal Investigators, Jungle Jammers and Plant Patrollers all for children who wish to learn more about the animals that live at Busch Gardens.

For the 3rd and 4th Graders there is the Zoo Chefs Camp ($270.00)which is great for kids who love the kitchen and the Zoo-per Stars ($280.00) is great for kids who love to entertain and be on-stage and will even get to be on stage in their own shown at the end of the camp. The Bio Buddies Camp ($305.00) includes a trip to SeaWorld and a chance to feed Sea Lions. For the fifth and sixth graders there is an Adventure Apprentice Camp ($280) that teaches children all of the responsibilities and skills it takes to run an amusement park and the Splash Seekers Camp ($305), great for kids who love everything water and will include trips to Adventure Island and Sea World.

For the older kids at the seventh and eighth grade age level, the Junior Zookeepers Camp ($270) is especially great if your child loves animals and wants to learn more about the animals at Busch Gardens and how to care for each.

All the camps are a week-long and include lunch, snacks and refreshments each day as well as a Camp T-Shirt and Water Bottle, a Photo to mark the occasion and some of the best behind the scenes experiences they could ever imagine.

While the camp runs throughout the day there us an “Extra-Care” Option that can be added to your child’s camp day which is $20 far on average, three extra hours of childcare, depending on the time that your child’s camp day ends. During the “Extra Care” children will get to play games, watch videos, do arts and crafts and much more!

Lowry Park Zoo

Lowry Park Zoo’s Summer Camps are back again this year and offer a summer full of fun for children from Kindergarten up to and including eight grade. Camps run 9:00am-4:00pm each day and there is extended care available from 7:00am-9:00am and 4:00-6:00pm each day as well.

Lunch will be served each day of the camp but children should bring two snacks as well as a water bottle they can refill with them for throughout their day. Each week of the camp will have a designated theme to keep it interesting for all of the campers. Each child will get a Lowry Park Zoo Summer Camp T-Shirt and a ticket to visit Lowry Park Zoo at another time.

  • The 5-Day Premium Camp is $320 per child
  • The 3-Day General Camp is $135 (Zoo Members) and $168 (Non-Zoo Members)
  • The 5-Day General Camp is $224 (Zoo Members) and $280 (Non-Zoo Members)

MOSI (Museum of Science and Industry)

The Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) offers the best summer camps for kids who love all things science and how things work! From  May 30-August 9 , MOSI will run their annual Summer Camps that are not only fun for kids but will also be educational during summer break.

Every Camper will receive a MOSI Camp T-Shirt and for an additional price there will be extended care from 7:00am-9:00am and 4:00pm-6:00pm. Each sessions topics include “Exploring Space”, “Challenge Your Space”, “Health and Body”, “Touch the Future” and “How our World Works” just to name a few!

Prices range around $120-$275 depending on topic and length of camp, there are also discounts for MOSI members and also up to 20% off if you sign your child up for multiple camp experiences.

Florida Aquarium

Tampa’s very own Florida Aquarium in Downtown will begin their Aqua Camps at the beginning of June and run all summer break. Like many other camps the Aqua Camps are paid for on a weekly basis and vary depending on age (K-8) and length of camp. Aqua Camps are available for Morning Sessions, Afternoon Camps and Full Day Camps.

For the older kids there are not only On-Location Camps but also Off-Location Camps that offer field-trip experiences to campers to broaden their horizons even farther. For 12-15 year olds there is also a 2-week Scuba Camp and Advanced Scuba Camp for 15-18 year olds.

Extended Care and lunch and snack programs are available for each camper for an additional cost.
