St. Patrick’s Day In Tampa Bay: Mayor’s River O’Green!

The Mayor’s River O’Green Celebration in Downtown Tampa is always one of the most popular event each year and with this being Mayor Bob Buckhorn’s last St. Patrick’s Day in office, this year’s celebration will be better than ever!

On Saturday, March 16, 2019 the day will start with The 3rd Annual  “River O’Green Gallop”, a 2-mile fun run down the Tampa Riverwalk from Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park to the Tampa Bay History Center and back. All participants will receive a “River O’Green” T-Shirt and race packet. Registration will be $30 and is on a first come, first serve basis the day of the event.

The party will then officially start at 11:00am at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park as the Hillsborough River is dyed green. Be sure to grab a spot on the Tampa Riverwalk so that you have the best view!

There will be live Irish-themed music from the Irish Buskers and Paddy O’Furniture and plenty of games and activities such as Corn Hole and even Cabbage Toss, but the Scavenger Hunt is one of the highlights every year. The River O’Green Scavenger Hunt begins at 4:00pm at Curtis Hixon Park and will take participants (groups of 5) throughout Downtown Tampa, solving 20 puzzles/tasks before returning to the park between 8:00pm-10:00pm. To participate, you must be at least 21 years of age and all are encouraged to wear Green or your best ST. Patrick’s Day attire. Registration for the Scavenger Hunt will begin at 12:00pm at Curtis Hixon on the day of the event. Each group that successfully completes all 20 tasks and arrives back at the park will be entered to win a trip to Grand Cayman Resort.

AS for food and drink options, several Irish Beers will be on tap and local Food Trucks and vendors are also scheduled to be a part of the day’s events.

Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park is located at 600 N Ashley Drive, Tampa, FL 33602.
