Ranked as one of the top cities to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, Tampa will take the celebration beyond March 17th and into the weekend this year.
On Saturday, March 18, 2017, the 6th annual Mayor’s River O’ Green Fest will get the party started at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park starting at 11:00am. The main feature of the event is the dying of the Hillsborough River GREEN to make the downtown area feel even more Irish!
There will be several events and activities for everyone to enjoy throughout the day and there will be a few new aspects of the celebration this year as well.
There will be activities for and games for children to enjoy, live music and entertainment a family scavenger hunt around the surrounding park area and a Leprechaun Costume Contest!
Local food trucks will be on hand for visitors to grab a bite to eat and, what would a St. Patrick’s Day event be without beer? There will be plenty of vendors on site too!
One of the new additions this year is the “River O’ Green Gallop”, which is a two-mile fun run, or walk, whichever you choose that will take place on the Tampa Riverwalk. Pre-registration is suggested but not required, and is $20.00 per person, registration at the event will be $25.00, this will include a race bib and a commemorative “Mayor’s River O’Green” T-Shirt! Also, new this year will be the “Shamrock Scavenger Crawl” which is an activity geared toward adults. the grown-up version of a scavenger hunt will run from 4:00pm until 7:00pm. Those who wish to participate, 21 years of age and older, can register from 11:00am until 3:00pm and will consist of solving about twenty puzzles in and around Downtown Tampa and will conclude at Rock Brothers Brewery. It is encouraged to bring friends and family as each group may have up to four people in each. By registering, each person will receive FREE rides on the TECO Streetcar on Saturday, as well as drink specials at designated locations and a commemorative St. Patrick’s Day beads. A percentage of these proceeds will benefit the Meals on Wheels of Tampa.
