“Fourth Friday” Brings Night of Arts and Culture to Downtown

While many people are familiar with a “First Friday” event that involves bar hopping and drink specials, the City of Tampa has changed the theme with “Fourth Friday” in Downtown Tampa every month.

This upcoming Friday, February 24, 2017  along the iconic Riverwalk, the Downtown area will be highlighting the arts and culture of the city as well as live entertainment and perhaps conclude with a delicious meal at one of the fantastic restaurants along the Hillsborough River.

The event begins at 4:00pm at one of the following locations:

  • Henry B. Plant Museum (4pm-5pm)
  • John F. Germany Library (4pm-6pm)
  • Hartley Gallery (4pm-6pm)
  • Tampa Museum of Art (4pm-10pm)
  • The Center of Architecture and Design (4pm-7:30pm)

While at one of these locations pick up a FREE wristband that you will wear throughout the rest of the night. This wristband allows for discounts into museums and other wristbands and discounts at participating restaurants.

Browse these locations to see some of the most recent exhibits and also special displays they will have specifically for the night. Most venues will have a discounted rate (with wristband) or a “pay as you wish” type system.

From 5pm until 7pm, the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts  will be offering a “pay as you will” admission price and feature speaker Robert MacKay. At 5:30pm Le Meridien will feature free admission along with a tour and complimentary snacks and drinks; these tours will run until 6:30pm.

The Tampa Theatre will run free tours along with drink specials from various times between the hours of 6pm and 9pm.

At 7pm the Jobsite Theatre will host a variety show that will last about an hour and a half. Then, at 8pm the Stageworks Theatre will have discounted admission to all of whom wish to see a showing of The Aliens.

If you like an alternate way of strolling down the Riverwalk there are two different options that you could consider. First is the “Downtowner” a free electric car ride service  which is easily accessible by downloading the service’s app and requesting a ride. The “Downtowner” route is throughout Downtown Tampa is completely free and a conveniently fast way of cruising through the city. The Coast Bike service in downtown will offer a free hour rental as part of the Fourth Friday festivities, use the code:FOURTHFRIDAY2017 when claiming your ride.

Various locations throughout the Riverwalk will also feature live entertainment and music throughout the night and be sure to stop at one of the beverage locations on the Riverwalk to get a designated  “Sip and Stroll” cup.

  • Yeoman’s Cask and Lion: 10% off check between 6pm and 1am
  • Tampa Pizza Company: 10% off check
  • Trolley’s: 15% off check
  • The Sail Pavilion: Live music from 6pm-10pm

  • Holy Hog: Live music from 5pm-7pm
    • 10% off check
  • Jackson’s Bistro: 10% off check
