St. Petersburg Bowl Event Guide

Tropicana Field will host the 2016 St. Petersburg Bowl on Monday, December 26, 2016, the ninth time the home of the Tampa Bay Rays has hosted a NCAA Bowl Game.

this year, the match-up will feature a team from the SEC (Southeastern Conference) for the first time, with the Mississippi State Bulldogs (5-7) as they gear up against the Miami of Ohio RedHawks (6-6) of the MAC (Mid-American Conference).

The Bulldogs didn’t have the season that some would have hoped after going 9-4 in 2015, they went just 5-7 this season, the RedHawks began the season 0-6 and then went on a six games winning streak; the first time a team has ever started the first half of the season win less and finished with a 6-6 record.

Tickets for the St. Petersburg Bowl can be purchased online,starting at $40 each.

Though the game will be played at 11am on December 26, there will be a few more events in the days leading up to the game for both locals and fans who are visiting the beautiful Bay area to enjoy during the Christmas weekend.

On Saturday, December 24, the St. Petersburg Bowl’s Beach Bash will take place at Madeira Beach beginning at 3:00pm. Both the Mississippi State and Miami of Ohio bans and cheer squads will be in attendance and appearances by players and coaches usually occur as well. This is a great activity to enjoy the beautiful Florida weather with other fans while listening to live music and participating in interactive games and other activities.

The St. Petersburg Bowl “Battle of the Bands” will be on Christmas Afternoon from 2:30pm until 5:00pm at the Sirata Beach Resort. Fowling that there will be the “Bowl Block Party” at 5:00pm at Ferg’s Sports Bar near Tropicana Field.
